COMMANDER’S COMMENTS:
Greetings Comrades,
Fall is here and it seems like winter may be close on her heels. We have many events coming up that will be listed below in the calendar of events. Please frequent your Post and come out and support our events. Your support is appreciated and needed.
Thanks to all our members who have renewed their membership and please help us out by recruiting a new member. The membership year is from August of one year to the end of July the next. Members who have not renewed by December are overdue. 10th District set the 2010 membership goal for this post at 235 members. We are all recruiters, so reach out to our community veterans and encourage them to join our Post family. Also, awards are given for recruiting members such as the Blue Star for five members and various other awards for larger numbers.
Please call me if you have any questions concerning your Post or upcoming events. I look forward to seeing you at the Legion meetings held on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM. Bring your ideas to the meeting to make our Post great. Again, please come out and support your Post whenever you can.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
- Meat raffles are held on the 1st Sunday of every month at 1:00 pm. Our next meat raffle is Sunday November 1st.
- All noon Sunday Bears games are a great time at the Post with food at half-time!
- 2nd Division Meeting, Sunday October 25th at 1pm
- Saturday October 31, Adult Halloween Costume Party at 7pm. Costume judging at 9pm with $30, $20 and $10 prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
- Chili Cook Off. Sunday November 8th. Have your chili here by 1130 to be included in the 12pm judging $30, $20 and $10 prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
- Veterans Day, Wednesday November 11th we need volunteers for poppy donations. Sign up sheet will be posted in the Bar.
- Gifts for the Yanks, Retirement Home visit with Santa and gifts for the Veterans. Date to be determined. We need Volunteers to help with this important event.
- Kids Christmas Party (See Ladies Auxiliary article) Sunday December 20th at 1pm
- Annual New Years Eve Party, Thursday December 31st 8pm
The post has a web site, www.post1170.com. This web site will be updated with post activities and you can also contact any of the post officers with any concerns.
Ladies Auxiliary
The 2010 year is started so I ask that all members please send in your membership renewals as soon as possible. You can drop it off at the Post attention Kendra Smith. Help our Unit make 100% by December by paying your dues, Thanks. For the ladies if you are not a member of the Auxiliary yet please feel free to join us. It is that time of year again when we start to celebrate with the family the holidays. I ask that you remember our Veterans and those that are on active duty.
As you read this newsletter from the Post you will see that we have a lot of activities going on at the Post in the next months. The biggest will be the Christmas party. The Ladies Auxiliary will be doing the shopping and wrapping of presents for the children again this year. We are asking you to help us by donating a roll of wrapping paper, Ribbon, bows or tape; even a pair of scissors or two for us to wrap the presents with this would be a big help to us. And if you want to have some fun, check with Ana at the Bar to find out when we are scheduled for the wrapping party and join in.
When you are at the Post watch out for the Toys-4-Tots Collection box to show arrive. Let’s help the Marine Corps program be a great success by donating a new unwrapped toy.
Remember our meetings are the Third Sunday of the month at 12:30.
