Post 1170 was established in 1947 by veterans of the Round Lake, Illinois area. The Post Home was established in the early 1950s. This Post is now home to approximately 180 veterans and their families.
We welcome all to enjoy our Post Club and the facilities available.

We support the veteran and the community
We support the Round Lake Food Bank, Children's Miracle Network, Special Olympics, and the Veterans Hospital at North Chicago. These are only a few of our activities. We also organize and provide activities for Patriotic events and several public holidays.
Our Hall is used by various community organizations
and is available for private parties

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness.
It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, men and women, in
nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.
